In this 60-minute workshop, I’ll share some of the most important anatomy insights that will totally transform some of yoga’s most common postures.
It’s not always about skill or effort - sometimes it’s simply the shape of your skeleton that dictates whether an asana is easy, challenging, or actually impossible. We’ll explore what this means in practice, as well as looking beyond the bones to understand how your brain is really the boss of all movement.
What you’ll learn
01
Why alignment isn’t a one-size-fits-all thing.
And why binary beliefs like right/wrong and good/bad are actually holding you back in your asana practice.
How your individual anatomy dictates which poses are possible, and which ones won’t be - no matter how hard you try.
Learn how the length of your arms, shape of your spine, or structure of your hip sockets, impacts your on-the-mat practice.
02
03
Why “wear and tear” is an outdated concept for joint health.
And what you should focus on instead.
04
That your brain is the real boss - not your body.
Understand how your nervous system controls your movement, and why (and how) your brain impacts your asana practice just as much as your actual body and bones.
05
Some of my favourite anatomically inspired alignment cues.
So you can stop focusing on aesthetics or exact angles that may be doing you more harm than good.
This workshop is for you if…
✔
You follow every alignment cue like a star student.
But something still feels “off” and you’re not sure why.
✔
You’ve ever felt confused by contradictory advice.
Like when one teacher says this, but another says that.
✔
You’ve hit a plateau in your practice.
Certain things, like stepping your foot between your hands, or holding your heels in Camel, feel impossible no matter how much you practice.
✔
You’re curious about anatomy and alignment.
And enjoy little aha! moments and lightbulb level understanding. Knowing the why behind the what is important for you.
